What is islam ?

Islam is an Abrahamic monotheistic religion based on the Quran and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad. Its followers, called Muslims, believe in one God, called Allah, and the word “Islam” itself means “submission to the will of God”. It is the world’s second-largest religion, with approximately 2 billion adherents, and is a complete way of life that provides guidance for all aspects of existence, from individual morality to social and legal matters.

Five Pillars of islam

In Islam, “Kalima” is a declaration of faith, with the first and most fundamental one affirming that there is no god but Allah and Muhammad is His messenger. 

Salat is the ritual prayer performed five times a day: Fajr (dawn), Dhuhr (midday), Asr (afternoon), Maghrib (sunset) and Isha (night).

Ramadan, the ninth month of the Muslim calendar and the holy month of fasting in Islam. During the month of Ramadan Muslims fast from dawn until dusk, and they are permitted to eat and drink only before sunrise and after sunset.
