Know about Kalima

The Shahada is the cornerstone of Islam – it’s the simple yet profound declaration that “ There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is His messenger ” ( لا إله إلا الله محمد رسول الله ).

What it means: It affirms that there’s only one divine being, Allah, and that Prophet Muhammad is the final messenger who conveyed His guidance.

How it’s used: Muslims recite it daily in prayers, when they convert, and in moments of worship. It’s also the phrase whispered into a newborn’s ear and spoken at the end of life.

Why it matters: Saying the Shahada sincerely is what makes someone a Muslim; it sets the foundation for all the other pillars and for a life lived in submission to Allah.
