A little story about Islam
Islam is a monotheistic faith based on the Quran, which Muslims believe is the word of Allah (God), and the Hadith (the sayings and actions of Prophet Muhammad). It emphasizes submission to Allah's will, compassion, and living a righteous life
The Five Pillars of Islam are the core acts of worship that every Muslim is expected to follow. Here’s a quick rundown:
1. Shahada – The declaration of faith: “There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is His messenger.” It’s the foundation of being a Muslim.
2. Salat – Performing the five daily prayers (Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha) facing the Kaaba in Mecca.
3. Zakat – Giving a fixed portion (usually 2.5 %) of one’s wealth to the needy and other specified categories. It purifies wealth and supports the community.
4. Sawm – Fasting during the month of Ramadan from dawn until sunset, abstaining from food, drink, and other physical needs.
5. Hajj – Making the pilgrimage to Mecca at least once in a lifetime, if one is physically and financially able. It involves a series of rituals over several days.
These pillars shape a Muslim’s spiritual life and guide daily actions.
